The Book Hive Named One of the Best Book Shops in the UK

An esteemed Norwich-based independent bookshop has earned recognition as one of the finest in the United Kingdom.

Faber, an internationally renowned publisher, recently honoured the establishment located on London Street, dubbing it the bookshop of the month in a recent editorial feature.

In their appraisal, Faber lauded the BookHive as a quintessential “Norwich institution.”

During an interview with the publisher, a representative from the shop reminisced, “I launched the store in 2009 when Norwich lacked independent bookshops, with only two Waterstones branches and a Borders. Considering the city’s profound literary heritage and vibrant literary scene, the absence was remarkable. Despite the economic challenges of the time, I was confident in the city’s support, and indeed, it rallied behind us from day one.”

Distinguishing itself with a unique approach, the shop typically stocks only one copy of each title, resulting in an extensive array of options despite its modest size.

Furthermore, the BookHive actively advocates for other local independent enterprises, spotlighting nearby businesses like Cafe Gelato and the charming French bistro, L’Hexagone, situated in Lower Gate Lane.
