Amazon has taken down multiple books from its platform that purportedly originated from Artificial Intelligence, following concerns over their dissemination of false information regarding King Charles’s recent cancer diagnosis.
Buckingham Palace has criticized any speculation regarding the King’s medical condition, labeling such publications as “intrusive, insensitive, and rife with inaccuracies.” The Palace announced that the Royal Family’s legal team would be closely examining the matter and urged organizations facilitating the sale of these books to withdraw them immediately.
Despite the King not publicly disclosing the specific type of cancer he has, the removed books speculated about his diagnosis and treatment, prompting further backlash from Buckingham Palace.
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the removal of titles that “breached our content guidelines,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to monitoring and eliminating such content. They stated, “While we permit AI-generated content, we do not condone AI-generated content that contravenes our content guidelines, including material that provides a substandard customer experience.”
Meanwhile, King Charles III addressed the public regarding his cancer diagnosis through a message posted on The Royal Family’s official website. Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support received, he acknowledged the comfort and encouragement provided by well-wishers, highlighting the significance of such gestures for those affected by cancer.
Furthermore, the King emphasized the positive impact of sharing his diagnosis in promoting public awareness and spotlighting the invaluable work of organizations supporting cancer patients and their families. He expressed profound admiration for their unwavering dedication, particularly in light of his own personal journey with cancer.
